To qualify for enrolment into a private college in Malaysia, you will first have to pass the most basic pre-requisite which is the SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia). although for those who might have borderline passes might qualify as well, usually, colleges would require you to undergo an orientation or a foundation course before you are actually allowed to enrol into the courses. Most colleges offer courses up to the Advance Diploma level where to further and complete your degree means you have to apply to universities.
Similarly like universities and university colleges, colleges go through stringent guidelines when it comes to offering courses. They will have to submit their course information to the government agency MQA (Malaysian Quality Assurance) before a course can be offered. This is where the agency will review all the material taught in the college to ensure that they follow the specifications and guidelines provided. After that, MQA will have to visit the premises of the college to ensure that all the facilities reported are properly installed and available. The MQA will also provide other related guidelines like books in the library, references for projects, teaching qualifications and such.
To do so, they will then interview the teaching staff and review their qualifications in order to adhere to the regulations. MQA does all these to ensure that the standard in the colleges are consistent and that the students are paying for the proper education. The MQA is one certification that you must ascertain before enrolling into a course. This will ensure that the course has underwent proper documentation and certification to make it a good course offered. If you are unsure if a course is MQA certified, you can send in your enquiries to us and we will investigate it on your behalf.
